THE HORRIFIC SHORT LIFE OF GABRIEL FERNANDEZ

Man Who Tortured and Murdered His Girlfriend's 8-Year-Old Son-
Because He Thought He was Gay Sentenced to Death
.
Isauro Aguirre, of Palmdale, California, was found guilty of a series of brutal and horrifying acts.
WARNING: What you are about to read is truly inhuman and awful.
The torture of Gabriel Fernandez, who died at eight years old, includes dousing the boy in pepper spray, forcing him to eat his own feces and vomit, putting cigarettes out on his skin and beating him with a baseball bat.
Aguirre also tied the boy up, locking him in a cage and shooting him at point blank range with a BB gun. He had a fractured skull, three broken ribs, BB pellets embedded in his chest and groin, cigarette burns on his skin and teeth punched out of his mouth.
It is also claimed he forced the young boy to dress up in girls’ clothes before going to school, and stressed he did not like Gabriel because he believed he was, in his words,
"a faggot".

Gabriel’s 16-year-old brother, Ezequiel, testified in horrific detail about the abuse the boy suffered at the hands of Aguirre.
According to Ezequiel’s testimony, Gabriel was beaten daily and was forced to eat cat feces and cat litter. Ezequiel also told the jury that his brother suffered regular beatings, allegedly at the hands of Aguirre and his mother, and was gagged and bound without food or water for hours in a small, locked cabinet he called the “box.”
The couple would allegedly laugh during the beatings, Ezequiel testified.
He also testified that Aguirre and his mother would allegedly force Gabriel to eat rotten food — and when he threw it up, they would make him eat his own vomit.
Gabriel reportedly gagged with a sock crammed in his mouth until he was discovered by authorities in May 2013. Malnourished, he was taken to the hospital but died two days later, his small body riddled with bruises, his ribcage showing.

And...there is more:
Gabriel reportedly was sexually abused as well.
At trial, jurors deliberated for about six hours before returning the guilty verdict against Aguirre.
Aguirre, 32, who confessed to causing Gabriel’s injuries, was convicted of murder in the first degree on 15 November. Aguirre, told police he hit Gabriel at least 10 times the day of his death for lying and “being dirty".
He previously rejected a plea bargain that would have eliminated the death penalty and is now scheduled to be executed on 8 March, 2018.
(THIS DAY CAN'T COME SOON ENOUGHT)

California has not executed anyone since 17 January, 2006. This is when convicted murderer Clarence Ray Allen received a lethal injection at San Quentin State Prison.
The sentencing phase of the trial begins in two weeks.
Man admitted to murdering girlfriend’s son
Gabriel was reportedly kept gagged and bound in a small cabinet until first responders found him naked on 22 May 2013.
Prosecutors said the boy’s mother, Pearl Fernandez, conspired with Aguirre, now 37,
to torture the boy over eight months in 2013.
And when the couple called 911, they didn’t do it to ‘help Gabriel’.
‘They called 911 to cover up what they did,’ they said.
Aguirre, who is 6ft 2in, was 270 pounds at the time of Gabriel’s death.
The boy – at 4ft 1in – weighed just 59 pounds.

Texts were also shown to the jury which allegedly show Aguirre and Fernandez conspiring to torture and murder Gabriel and then cover it up.
James Cermak, a paramedic for LA County Fire Department, said there was an ‘unbelievable’ amount of damage to the boy’s body when it was found at the couple’s apartment in Palmdale.
The mother will be tried for murder separately.
Four social workers are also being prosecuted because of his deal. The DCFS documents show Pearl Fernandez, 29, had a long list of violations over the past decade that should have led years ago to her losing custody of her three young children.

CALL ME BY YOUR NAME

PERHAPS THE SWEETEST MOVIE TO COME ALONG IN THE MAINSTREAM
FOR A VERY LONG TIME- CALL ME BY YOUR NAME IS  BEAUTIFUL.
THE PACE IS ONE OF OLD SCHOOL CINEMA.  IT TAKES ITS TIME, LULLING ONE INTO THE STORY.  DEFINITELY NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH A.D.D, WHO HAVE TO CHECK THEIR TEXTS EVERY FEW MINUTES.
I READ THE BOOK IN OUR BOOK CLUB EARLIER THIS YEAR,  HANGING ON EVERY WORD. RE-READING NUMEROUS PARAGRAPHS, SOMETIMES IN TEARS.
THE FILM IS MORE CONCISE, A LITTLE MORE HETERO, (FOR MY LIKING)
LESS EROTIC, BUT FULLY CINEMATIC. THE FILM SHYS AWAY FROM THE FETISHIZED SEXUAL ENCOUNTERS BETWEEN ELIO & OLIVER, AND COMPLETELY IGNORES THE PIVITAL PART OF THE "PEACH SCENE."
NONE-THE-LESS THE CHEMISTRY OF THE TWO BOYS TOGETHER IS UNDENIABLE.

ARMIE HAMMER AS OLIVER- IS LOW-KEY AS THE "TROPHY BOYFRIEND."
HE IS PERFECT IN HIS PART AS SOMEONE TO ADORE.
TIMOTHEE CHALAMET AS ELIO-  EMBODIES HIS ROLE. YOUNG ANGST
QUESTIONING HIS SEXUALITY FOR THE FIRST TIME.
MESMERIZING FROM START TO FINISH.
MICHAEL STUHLBARG AS ELIO'S FATHER HAS PERHAPS THE BEST STATEMENT ABOUT LOVE,
(ESPECIALLY SAME-SEX LOVE) AS ANY IN FILM HISTORY-
TAKEN WORD FOR WORD FROM THE  2007- MODERN CLASSIC NOVEL
BY ANDRE ACIMAN.
THE BOOK AND FILM ALLOW THE JADED AND COMPLACENT A CHANCE TO REMOVE THEMSELVES FROM THE STARK TIMES  OF 2017. FOR THOSE OF US WHO WERE AROUND IN THE 80'S A NICER TIME, NOT AS COMPLICATED,
BUT SOON TO BE.
ANYONE WITH A HEART WILL REMEMBER THEIR FIRST CRUSH, THEIR FIRST LOVE.
MAYBE IT WILL EVEN INSPIRE US TO EXPLORE ROMANCE ONCE AGAIN?
THE ENDING CREDITS~ VISUALLY PERFECT AND HEARTBREAKING WILL GET TIMOTHEE CHALAMET AN ACADEMY AWARD.

FIRST GAY MALE KISS IN CANADIAN NAVY HISTORY!

Master Seaman Francis Legare made Canadian Navy history this week when the HMCS Winnipeg docked in Victoria and he greeted his partner Corey Vautour.
The couple embraced and kissed in what was the “first kiss” between a male sailor returning from sea and his male partner.
It’s a time-honoured Navy tradition that there’s a raffle to decide which sailor is allowed off a ship first to kiss a loved one after an extended time at sea, acting sub-lieutenant Kyle Reed said.
This time, Legare won the draw and the right to kiss Vautour after spending almost nine months away from home.
“It’s the first same sex kiss for males, but it’s not the first same sex kiss ever.
“It’s a very positive thing,” said Reed, who added that the encounter showcases a “more inclusive, more tolerant” Navy.

HOLLYWOOD LESBIANS?

very bizarre montage of hollywood lesbians. some confirmed, some not so much...

here is direct quote from the creator of this clip- jerette09
"Hollywood Lesbians are nothing new. If you were a guest at a hollywood party back in the 1930s or 1940s you'd discover that old hollywood had quite a few lesbian celebrities who hide their sexual identity. You don't have to be Annamarie Jagose to know that femme fatal stars of cinema from Lizabeth Scott and Tallulah Bankhead to Marlene Dietrich were lesbian. Just read about them as a unregistered guest on the many blog post on the internet. The famous women featured in this video from classical hollywood were major stars in films and entertainment and were gay or bisexual. To be a member in the female gay community was very risky for a great lady star. It's interesting to know that most of these movie actresses were way in the closet because an admission of being gay by an actress was not good and destroyed careers and lives and created scandal. Just think how hard this duplicitous private life had to be for a celebrity. Many had to acquire class hollywood prostitutes to satisfy their sexual desire. Remember It's back in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s when homosexuality was completely taboo in society culture. Some say it may be different today and that was a long time ago but homophobia back then was the norm for most of the heterosexual or straight population. People did'nt cross gender lines for sex. Confidential magazine ran stories that outed hollywood celebrities as gay. However, Marlene Dietrich a screen star who played the femme fatal and played juicy stuff parts in movies wearing frilly dresses was almost openly gay. lizabeth Scott was another actress who played the film noir femme in film and was quite gay. Tallulah Bankhead was a notorious lesbian. Today male or female homosexuality is more accepted among the general movie going public. Most of the old hollywood lesbians were white but there were some african american female gays. Now a days top celebrities like Jodie Foster or Queen Latifahare are not closeted anymore and still can maintain a career and get good reviews. To come out of the closet isn't dangerous any more. A biography seems to come out every year revealing a stars lesbianism from the past.. On Amazon, Several good books to read have been written about closeted lesbian movie stars and the so called sewing circles. Boze Hadleigh has written a good book and biography account on hollywood lesbians. He conducted interesting interviews with several of the stars featured in this video. I guest many people think these female celebs did'nt have sex with men or did'nt get married or have children. But in fact they did. Many used marriage with a male as a cover for public approval. They lived a double life for years. Their real love or sexual feelings went to a female or girl. Some inside these stars inner circle of friends knew of their lesbianism and sexuality but keep the true nature of their desire private. Their feminine and plublic image had to be protected. Just the thought by the general public could break a career over night. The story could'nt get out to the news papers about high class hollywood. Featured in this video are Lizabeth Scott, Tallulah Bankhead, Marlene Dietrich,Judith Anderson, Barbara Stanwyck, Greta Garbo, Patsy Kelly, Marjorie Main, Lana Turner, Joan Crawford, Kay Francis, Jodie Foster, Katharine Hepburn, Queen Latifah, Lady Gaga, Angelina Jolie, Lindsay Lohan."

THE PANSY CRAZE

by
Dane B. McFadhen~ additional info by rick castro

The heavy lipstick, those (fully furnished) bedroom eyes and the pancake that rivaled the entire Rockette's vanity table, these were the pansies. They took over the stage and ruled - for a while - until they got too big for their frilly britches and the straight man felt uncomfortable.

Ray Bourbon
Ray Bourbon was one of the first pansy stars of the 20's and 30's.
He was a queen with a dream and an aptitude for storytelling.

He claimed to have begun in the theatre in England in 1913, and this may well be true. What is true is that he returned to the U.S. by 1917 and, now known as Rae Bourbon, he supposedly won a Photoplay contest and was awarded a studio contract as first prize. He would say later that he worked in several silent films, and it is reported that he appeared under the name "Ramon Icarez" as a fire dancer at the opening of the Los Angeles Coliseum in 1923.

By the mid-20s, Bourbon was working with Bert Sherry as the vaudeville team of "Bourbon and Sherry" and later toured with the Martin Sisters. In 1932, he was working full-time as a female impersonator at Jimmy's Back Yard in Hollywood and Tait's in San Francisco. It was at Taits, in 1933, where his "Boys Will Be Girls" review was raided by police during a live radio show for being too risqué. It didn't stop him.

In the later 30s and early 40s Bourbon headlined at the Rendezvous in Los Angeles and starred in his own revue, "Don't Call Me Madam." His "Insults of 1944", at the Playtime Theatre in Los Angeles, caught the eye of film superstar Mae West who cast Bourbon in her 1944 production of 'Catherine Was Great" and in her 1948 production of "Diamond Lil".

During the 50s and 60s Bourbon entertained at hundreds of clubs and released dozens of albums, certainly the most prolific female impersonator to have done the latter. His appearances are still fondly remembered by many who saw him when he toured in big and small towns all over the country, providing many isolated gay men with a glimpse of the LGBT community of pre-Stonewall America.

Ray’s comedy was, at once, highbrow and lowbrow, overtly gay and covertly subversive, and yet, despite his influence on gay men, he remained vague about his own sexuality. There is evidence that he had relationships with both men and women, was married twice, and fathered at least one son. In his memoirs, Ray discusses his sexual attractions and relationships to both genders with equal enthusiasm, but never called himself gay or bisexual. He worked on stage in and out of drag.

Another great Bourbon exaggeration came when he cashed in on the news of Christine Jorgensen and claimed to have had a sex change in 1956; this is almost certainly not true.

By the late 1960s Bourbon had fallen on hard times. In 1968, barely eking out a living, traveling through Texas and working at the Jewel Box Revue in Kansas City, Bourbon was implicated in the murder of a dog kennel owner where Bourbon had lodged over 70 dogs after a fire destroyed the car he and his hounds were traveling in.

The circumstances alone raise many questions, but Bourbon ended up being convicted as the mastermind of the killing, along with two conspirators.

He called his friends and desperately asked them for help. They ignored him.

The 78-year-old Bourbon was given a 99-year sentence and died on January 19, 1971 in the Howard County Texas prison, while penning his unfinished memoirs "Daddy Was a Lady".

Bruz Fletcher

One of the most unique talents to come out of the Pansy Craze was Bruz Fletcher. Born to a wealthy and severely dysfunctional midwestern family, Bruz headed out to Hollywood.

After years of performing in various clubs, Bruz began headlining at Club Bali . His show was booked for only two weeks, but ended up running for an amazing 4 years.

His witty and coded gay references rose above the camp making the little watering hole a favorite of the Hollywood scene.

Bruz was mentioned over 200 times in the LA Times during his run at Club Bali. Lucky for us Bruz recorded several records; even the macho Ernest Hemingway had a Bruz Fletcher album in his Cuban home.

After Prohibition ended on December 5th, 1933, police began cracking down on gay clubs and it was no longer safe or profitable to be an out gay performer.

Out of work and unable to cope with his bad fortune, Fletcher took his own life at the age of 34. His death symbolized the end of the Pansy Craze and the beginning of an era of intolerance that would last until the Black Cat, the Compton Cafeteria and Stonewall riots of the 1960’s.

Gene Malin

Gene [Jean] Malin was born Victor Eugene James Malin in Brooklyn in 1908. He had two brothers; one became a cop and the other worked for a sugar refinery, sweetie. Gene designed costumes, and won many awards for his efforts at the elaborate Manhattan Drag Balls of the 1920s.

By his late teens, he was a chorus boy in several Broadway shows, and began working as a drag performer in several Greenwich Village clubs, most notably the "Rubaiyat". Newspaper columnists took note of his performances and soon Malin was booked at Louis Schwartzs' elegant "Club Abbey."

It was at this point that Malins' career and fate took a most interesting turn. Although he was at times assisted by "Helen Morgan JR.", a popular drag artist of the day, Malin stopped appearing in drag himself. The crux of his act was not to impersonate women, but to appear as an openly gay male, moving about the stage and amongst the audience members as a tuxedo-clad, elegant, witty, wisecracking Emcee. Malin's 'joke' was that he was a gay man doing his impression of a straight man doing his impression of a gay man.

Confused? So was the audience who loved it. Rather Victor Victoria wouldn't you say?

Malin was often laughed at for his mincing talents. But he turned out ot have fists of iron.
Malin once beat up 4 straight men who threw a pitcher of water on him while he was performing. The six feet tall Malin wasn’t the "Pansy weakling" they had thought they were bullying! The story made all of the papers.
Malin became the top earner of Broadway for a time. After headlining numerous New York Clubs, he took his act to Boston and ultimately to the West Coast. Malin opened the notorious CLUB NEW YORKER on hollywood blvd in the basement of the
HOTEL CHRISTIE . scientology now owns this historic building.

During his time in hollywood, Malin had small roles in several films, usually as the stock character of a witty limpwristed clerk.

In the early hours of August 10, 1933, Gene Malin was killed in a freak accident. After his "farewell performance" at the "Ship Cafe" in Venice, California, Malin got into his sedan with roommate Jimmy Forlenza and comedic actress Patsy Kelly, (known for being the side-kick to marion davis, thema todd, and the cameo of laura~louise in rosemary's baby). He apparently confused the gears and the car lurched in reverse and went off a pier into the water. His friends were seriously injured, but Malin was killed instantly--pinned under the steering wheel.

Gene Malin was only 24 years of age at the time of his death, and although many saw him as an oddity, in a short span of time Jean Malin made history.
