PERHAPS THE SWEETEST MOVIE TO COME ALONG IN THE MAINSTREAM
FOR A VERY LONG TIME- CALL ME BY YOUR NAME IS BEAUTIFUL.
THE PACE IS ONE OF OLD SCHOOL CINEMA. IT TAKES ITS TIME, LULLING ONE INTO THE STORY. DEFINITELY NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH A.D.D, WHO HAVE TO CHECK THEIR TEXTS EVERY FEW MINUTES.
I READ THE BOOK IN OUR BOOK CLUB EARLIER THIS YEAR, HANGING ON EVERY WORD. RE-READING NUMEROUS PARAGRAPHS, SOMETIMES IN TEARS.
THE FILM IS MORE CONCISE, A LITTLE MORE HETERO, (FOR MY LIKING)
LESS EROTIC, BUT FULLY CINEMATIC. THE FILM SHYS AWAY FROM THE FETISHIZED SEXUAL ENCOUNTERS BETWEEN ELIO & OLIVER, AND COMPLETELY IGNORES THE PIVITAL PART OF THE "PEACH SCENE."
NONE-THE-LESS THE CHEMISTRY OF THE TWO BOYS TOGETHER IS UNDENIABLE.
ARMIE HAMMER AS OLIVER- IS LOW-KEY AS THE "TROPHY BOYFRIEND."
HE IS PERFECT IN HIS PART AS SOMEONE TO ADORE.
TIMOTHEE CHALAMET AS ELIO- EMBODIES HIS ROLE. YOUNG ANGST
QUESTIONING HIS SEXUALITY FOR THE FIRST TIME.
MESMERIZING FROM START TO FINISH.
MICHAEL STUHLBARG AS ELIO'S FATHER HAS PERHAPS THE BEST STATEMENT ABOUT LOVE,
(ESPECIALLY SAME-SEX LOVE) AS ANY IN FILM HISTORY-

THE BOOK AND FILM ALLOW THE JADED AND COMPLACENT A CHANCE TO REMOVE THEMSELVES FROM THE STARK TIMES OF 2017. FOR THOSE OF US WHO WERE AROUND IN THE 80'S A NICER TIME, NOT AS COMPLICATED,
BUT SOON TO BE.
ANYONE WITH A HEART WILL REMEMBER THEIR FIRST CRUSH, THEIR FIRST LOVE.
MAYBE IT WILL EVEN INSPIRE US TO EXPLORE ROMANCE ONCE AGAIN?

GEORGE W. BUSH WILL BE THE LAST GOP PRESIDENT
According to some pundits~ because of the influence and mainstreaming of gay culture~ george w. bush will be the last GOP president.
I will go further, because of his actions during his presidency and the current actions of the GOP controlled congress~ this will be the last GOP controlled congress.. if you want to see the future of politics, look at california.

George W. Bush might end up being the last Republican president of the United States — and if this is the case, LGBT Americans are at least partly responsible.
That's the conclusion reached by conservative media producer and writer Myra Adams, who first dealt with this subject in the months immediately before the 2012 presidential election and has revisited the issue in a recentDaily Beast article.
Among the reasons Adams lists for her concern about the future of her party is that the U.S. has "a culture where non-traditional social and sexual behavior has become mainstream," while the GOP "is growing increasingly white, old Southern, and male, which alienates ... gays" and other minorities. In other words, the influence of LGBT people and their societal acceptance and inclusion figure prominently in Adams's theory of why the Republican Party may be doomed.
Adams also cites "a mainstream media that is overwhelmingly comprised of journalists [who] are biased towards Democrats and liberal causes," "an education system controlled by liberals that churns out liberals," and "the influence of Hollywood," which makes being liberal "cool."
Adams further speculates that Hispanic voters will determine the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. Saying the Democratic Party has used "aggressive" tactics to register Hispanic voters, she posits that Texas and other purple or red states might turn blue as a result of Hispanics voting Democratic by widening margins.
She concludes that if Texas turns blue, the result will be that "George W. Bush WAS the last Republican president."

GRAMMY SAME SEX WEDDINGS?

TONIGHT - 34 Couples to Marry On-Air at the Grammys During Gay Rights Anthem 'Same Love'
Queen Latifah is set to officiate a mass gay wedding at tonight's Grammys, at a performance which will also include a special guest, the NYT reports:
But the producers behind the program, which is to be broadcast live by CBS at 8 p.m., are hoping that the biggest show-stopper of the night will be a much more solemn event: an on-air wedding of 34 couples — gay, straight, old, young, of many races and many colors. The ceremony will be part of the hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s performance of their Grammy-nominated song “Same Love,” which became a marriage-equality anthem last year just as that issue was drawing intense national attention.
Mr. Lewis, the group’s producer, said that the weddings “will be in our minds the ultimate statement of equality, that all the couples are entitled to the same exact thing.”
The segment follows what the Grammy organizers said was the show’s long history of addressing timely social issues through music, like Elton John’s duet in 2001 with Eminem, who was then widely criticized as homophobic.
“We’re serious about this,” said Ken Ehrlich, the longtime producer of the Grammys.
The couples involved were forced to sign confidentiality agreements and not tell their families, according to the paper.

They're going to need something to boost the ratings. Ever since the music business went down the hill to the gully, it's been a snoozefest. Post Whitney Houston's tribute, the three-and-a-half-hour music awards show drew 10 million fewer viewers (Hollywood Reporter).
With all the gay marriage fences falling, this will certainly bring recognition to the other states fighting for the right to marry.
