according to the LA times- a new -- and strange -- study by the American Chemical Society has just revealed that nine out of ten pieces -- as in 90% -- of the paper currency sampled around the United States recently contained traces of cocaine -- as in the illegal substance, which binds to the green ink.
Not surprisingly, the money was especially contaminated in bigger, more evil places like Detroit, Boston and Baltimore. Also, Miami, Orlando and good old LA, all right about 100%. Mostly in $5, $10, $20 and $50's.

DEPECHE MODE @ THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL

i can't say i've ever been a huge depeche mode fan, but i certainly remember then as a constant back in the 80s, and was very pleased to attend their free concert a few months back on hollywood & vine. since then i've became very nostalgic, and was delighted when my good friend, vitaly koshman invited me to see them @ the hollywood bowl last night. what a treat!
the presentation was spot on... these guys are tight. i was drawn into their performance as almost an antisocial kinda event. i mean that in a good way. you get really into your own head-space experiencing depeche mode. and with no drugs! i guess that's why all the 20sometwinks like them so much. they can twitter and text the entire time, still enjoy the performance and not miss a beat. i had a great time. my only complaint... this strange love video by anton corbijn . it's good, but you can guarantee if i would've directed this, it would've been with two guys!

MILDRED PIERCE TO BECOME A MINI-SERIES

Killer Films, (christine vachon) is developing a five-hour TV miniseries adaptation of James M. Cain’s Depression-era novel Mildred Pierce with kate winslet to reprise to oscar winning role of joan crawford. The project, which is being shopped to cable (including HBO), centers on a single mom struggling for independence during the Great Depression.
one of my fave films and incredible book.way ahead of it's time. this sounds like a winner to me.
