OCCUPY WALL STREET- DAY 12

THERE IS NO STOPPING US NOW...

New York City labor unions are preparing to back the unwieldy grassroots band occupying a park in Lower Manhattan, in a move that could mark a significant shift in the tenor of the anti-corporate Occupy Wall Street protests and send thousands more people into the streets. The Transit Workers Union Local 100's executive committee, which oversees the organization of subway and bus workers, voted unanimously Wednesday night to support the protesters. The union claims 38,000 MEMBERS! A union-backed organizing coalition, which orchestrated a large May 12 march on Wall Street before the protests, is planning a rally on Oct. 5 in explicit support. And SEIU 32BJ, which represents doormen, security guards and maintenance workers, is using its Oct. 12 rally to express solidarity with the Zuccotti Park protesters.

"The call went out over a month ago, before actually the occupancy of Wall Street took place," said 32BJ spokesman Kwame Patterson. Now, he added, "we're all coming under one cause, even though we have our different initiatives." READ MORE-

As the Occupy Wall Street demonstration enters its 12th day in New York City – and as progressive activists protest in cities across the country – SF Bay Area residents are preparing for a mass mobilization on the streets of San Francisco tomorrow afternoon (Thurs/29), targeting financial institutions and other entities that they blame for the economic plight of the average American.

Wall Street saw yet another surge in protesters today - as hundreds of Continental and United Airlines pilots demonstrated in New York City's financial district. Over 700 hundred activists, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) carriers, took their grievances to the streets as they protested for wages and benefits in light of a stalled merger between the airlines. The demonstration coincided with the 11th straight day the Occupy Wall Street encampment, which has seen thousands of demonstrators descend onto downtown Manhattan - and hundreds arrested. IN A GLASS CAGE, is a 1987 Spanish art house horror film written and directed by Agustí Villaronga and starring Günter Meisner, Marisa Paredes and David Sust. The plot follows an ex-Nazi sadistic child abuser who is now paralyzed and depending on an iron lung to live. A young man who comes to nurse him was one his former victims years before. The film was inspired by the history of Gilles de Rais. With its theme mixing Nazism, pedophilia, torture and homosexuality, the film was highly controversial. when this film came out in los angeles, i rushed the first day to century city to a screening. at the film progressed in severity depicting fetish, tourture and murder. most of the audience left in disgust. the disgruntled audience walked passed giving me dirty looks for not leaving as well. i was the only audience member who stayed to see the entire film.

check out this cult classic from one of my fave directors- MICHAEL POWELL, (directed my fave film of all time- The Red Shoes) Peeping Tom is a 1960 British psychological thriller directed by Michael Powell and written by the World War II cryptographer and polymath Leo Marks. The title derives from the slang expression 'peeping Tom' describing a voyeur. The film revolves around a serial killer who murders women while using a portable movie camera to record their dying expressions of terror.

Its controversial subject and the extremely harsh reception by critics effectively destroyed Powell's career as a director in the United Kingdom. However, it attracted a cult following, and in later years, it has been re-evaluated and is now considered a masterpiece.

According to the Cistercian writer Caesar of Heisterbach, one of the leaders of the Crusader army, at the siege of Béziers in 1209, when asked by a Crusader how to distinguish the Cathars from the Catholics, Arnaul Amalric supposedly answered: Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius (Kill them all. For the Lord knoweth them that are His. This is the origin of the modern phrase, "Kill them all and let God sort them out."

ECTOPLASM - A strange, mystical material that flows out of any orifice and opening of a mediums body during a seance. This paranormal substance would sometimes take the shapes of faces, limbs, or even an entire figure but could not materialize until it had come out of the body of the medium. The typical color of ectoplasm is a creamy off-white. Quite often this substance was warm and life like but has also been known to be cold. This paranormal material could be doughy, sticky, airy, smoky, or thick and syrupy. This ghostly substance was also known to smell like ozone. Ectoplasm often seemed to form around believers of the paranormal and open minded, and not so much in the presence of the skeptical. Ectoplasm would form most of the time in the dark or in dim lighting. In bright light it would vanish completely or snap back violently.
