MALCOLM MCLAREN IS DEAD

the original BUFFALO GUY is RIP.
Malcolm mclaren, former manager of THE NEW YORK DOLLS, creator of the SEX PISTOLS, punk rock, ex-lover/partner to VIVIENNE WESTWOOD, opened the first punk rock/fetish shop called SEX, creator of the BUFFALO GIRLS, discovered BOW-WOW-WOW, inspired the NEW ROMANTIC look, and numerous other trends has left the building.

according to the new york times- his companion of many years, Young Kim, confirmed that Mr. McLaren died on Thursday, and said he died of mesothelioma at a hospital in Switzerland.

In the 1970s, Mr. McLaren returned to his native London from New York, where he had briefly managed the New York Dolls in the waning days of that band’s initial flush of fame. With his business partner and girlfriend at the time, Vivienne Westwood, they renamed their clothing shop Sex, and Mr. McLaren set about putting together his own rock act of untested British youth, which became the Sex Pistols.

McLaren's British agent, Les Molloy, said he had been suffering from cancer for some time but could not give a cause of death. He said McLaren died in New York but could not provide details. READ MORE-

my good friend from high-school- eric heins- sent me these pics from our junior prom!- circa 1975.
i remember i invited joyce as my date, i liked her because she was flat-chested. i then hooked-up eric with her best friend, (i forgot her name) they did not hit it off.. there was no love connection. after our uneventful prom we took our dates to the sugar shack in north hollywood. the gay bar where cherry currie used to hang out with joan jett.

Cannabis has long been used for fiber (hemp), for medicinal purposes, and as a recreational drug.

Medical use-
there has been considerable interest in its use for the treatment of a number of conditions, including glaucoma, AIDS wasting, neuropathic pain, treatment of spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis, and chemotherapy-induced nausea. A recent study has also concluded that cannabinoids found in Cannabis might have the ability to prevent Alzheimer's disease. THC has been shown to reduce arterial blockages.
Currently he FDA does facilitate scientific investigations into the medical uses of cannabis.

Recreational use-
Cannabis is a popular recreational drug around the world, only behind alcohol, caffeine and tobacco.
In the United States alone, it is believed that over 100 million Americans have tried Cannabis, with an additional 25 million Americans using it within the past year.
According to the UK medical journal The Lancet, Cannabis has a lower rate of dependence compared to both nicotine and alcohol, and any Cannabis withdrawal symptoms are typically mild and are never life-threatening.

Religious use-
Cannabis has being referred to in India as "food of the gods", eventually becoming a ritual part of the Hindu festival of Holi.
In Buddhism, cannabis has been used in meditation and regarded as a holy plant since 500 BC. Shamanic use of Cannabis in China has been dated to at least 1000 BC.
Anointing oils mentioned in Exodus are said to contain Cannabis. Sufis have used Cannabis in a spiritual context since the thirteenth century.
In modern times the Rastafari movement has embraced Cannabis as a sacrament.

erykah badu's new video- WINDOW SEAT, is very inspired.
especially during these times of corporate everything, and label obsessed queens, she takes a low-budget-high concept idea and really makes it work. with her ending nude and shot on the grassy knoll, of dealey plaza in dallas texas, the exact spot of the kennedy assassination, (11/22/1963) 47 years ago, takes some guts.

believe it or not i'm on vacation!

yes there is rest for the wicked... even for me.
i arrived in PS, (palm springs) yesterday and chilled out by the pool & jacuzzi..

then had a tennessee williams marathon watching ~
SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH- ROMAN SPRING OF MRS STONE, and REFECTION IN A GOLDEN EYE.
this last flick in not written by tennessee, but has the same tone and homo-longing, so popular in his writings.



today i went to 29 PALMS INN to relive some old memories.
the first time i was @ the 29 palms inn was-1983 with HERB RITTS for a shoot for PER LUI.. a now defuncted italian fashion magazine. i was the wardrobe stylist. then in 1994, i brought bruce labruce here, thinking it would be the perfect place to write a script.. it was.. we wrote HUSTLER WHITE here in 10 days.

i have so many memories of this inn i was curious to see if it was still the same.. it is.. looks exactly the same.. like time has stood still.. a postcard from 1928 thru 1956 americana.

THE SHIT IS STARTING TO HIT THE FAN

violence & caos has erupted in response to the passing of the healthcare bill. numerous congressmen have been threatened, harassed and in one case sent a "white substance," in the mail.. goaded on by the likes of glenn beck, sarah palin, ann coulter and the like, "tea-bagger-types are removing their sheets and going rouge. check out the view, even elizabeth hasselbeck is pissed off with palin. wow... the world is definitely collapsing. hasslebeck speaks out about her own party, joy behar holds her tongue, (sorta) and comedian DAME EDNA, (some probably thought it was barbara walters) is silent and serious.... till the end.

DENNIS HOPPER IS A STAR

in what will definitely be his last public appearance, film legend DENNIS HOPPER received a star on the
HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME this morning, directly in front of the EGYPTIAN THEATRE, (right next to james cameron).
it must be a bittersweet for mr. hopper to be honored with the 2,403rd star on the walk of fame, while in the last stages of prostrate cancer, meanwhile having his "wife" victoria duffy suing him for all she can get.

THE MODERN DANDY

THE MODERN DANDY movement is gaining in popularity.
this diverse movement was re-generated by andre 3000 with his "Benjamin Bixby" clothing line back in spring of 2008, along with fashionista~ hedi slimane, and alfred darlington aka DAEDELUS with his electronic music.

what's great about the modern dandy movement is it isn't only an anglophile obsession, in fact all nationalities & diversities are championing this surprisingly sexy, not to mention, fetishistic look.
locally jose promis, renfield & myself have presented dandy~esque theme events @ antebellum.
