Feb 10, 2011 Lady Gaga Announces Target Deal. Deluxe edition will be available only at Target, and pre-orders will get free “Born This Way” single
Feb 11, 2011 Exclusive deluxe edition goes on sale.
Feb 11, 2011 Criticism of Target deal begins to spread online. Gays Against Gaga site launched with quote from Alex Blaze.
Feb 13, 2011 Grammy Awards performance features “Born This Way” to mixed reviews, some mentioning the Target controversy.
Feb 17, 2011. Target sends out press release to gay media, again claiming “policy changes.”
Feb 18, 2011 Billboard interview: Gaga first addresses controversy surrounding deal, claims policy changes were “part of the deal.” A Target representative interviewed for the same piece does not confirm this claim.
Feb 17-23, 2011 Bilerico, Queerty, The Awl all demonstrate once again Target has not promised to stop donating to anti-gay/anti-worker organizations, and “policy changes” are meaningless.
Feb 26, 2011 Target’s free “born this way” download promotion ends.
Feb 28, 2011 Born This Way video premieres.
March 8, 2011 MetroWeekly reports that then exclusive partnership with Target dissolved.

Now, you tell me. Does this look like a principled activist pressuring a corporation to change? Or does it look like a failed attempt to whitewash the anti-gay/anti-worker record of a major corporation—an attempt that was abandoned when the PR campaign wasn’t working and cries of outrage threatened to keep getting louder?
One thing’s clear: this change wouldn’t happen if there weren’t people like all you GAG readers and smart journalists and commentators asking critical questions. She did the right thing, but it’s up to people like you and me to put the pressure on!

lady gaga gave a show stopping performance last night for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles’s 30th Anniversary Gala yesterday one-night-only production.


the production was directed by artist Francesco Vezzoli, (who also created the perfume art piece greed- directed by roman polanski).

“The music is a new song by Gaga called Speechless. which is rather different from most of the music we have heard from her, more dramatic.

gaga was accompanied by the bolshoi ballet,(one of the oldest and most prestigious schools of ballet in the world, located in Moscow, Russia).

this one-night-only event of the season production. One of a kind objects and costumes created by renowned contemporary artists and designers.


The pink piano pained with butterflies is by Damien Hirst, (known as the richest living artist, and creator of the Love of God, a human skull recreated in platinum and adorned with approximately $30,000,000 worth of diamonds. It was modelled on an 18th century skull, but the only surviving human part of the original is the teeth).



Gaga's hat was created by Frank Gehry, ( best-known for designing the titanium-covered Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Basque Country, Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles, Experience Music Project in Seattle, Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis, Dancing House in Prague, Czech Republic and the MARTa Museum in Herford, Germany.


The masks are director Baz Luhrmann, (director of moulin rouge and romeo +juliet) and his wife, Catherine Martin, (his costume designer) works of art.


the dress with the chandelier like crystal skirt was designed by Miuccia Prada,




the make-up was by friend billy b, who's creating incredible looks with gaga lately as in the bad romance video.

and the hair was by syd curry my longtime friend and former collaborator back in the day when i was a sylist.

according to writers- Joshua David Stein & Noah Michelson, "Her devotion to gay culture is unparalleled by any other artist operating at her level of visibility or success. “When I started in the mainstream it was the gays that lifted me up,” she says. “I committed myself to them and they committed themselves to me, and because of the gay community I’m where I am today.” Earlier this year, in her acceptance speech for her MuchMusic award for best international video, Lady Gaga thanked “God and the gays.” Before agreeing to tour with Kanye West this fall, Gaga told the rapper, “I just want to be clear before we decide to do this together: I’m gay. My music is gay. My show is gay. And I love that it’s gay. And I love my gay fans and they’re all going to be coming to our show. And it’s going to remain gay.” That’s another clause in the Gagaland constitution: Gay culture shall gush undiluted into the rapids of society. It shall not be co-opted, fancified, dolled up, or Uncle Tommed. “I very much want to inject gay culture into the mainstream,” she says, “It’s not an underground tool for me. It’s my whole life.
