CHECK OUT- RICK CASTRO- MEIN SCHWULES AUGE- THE BALLERY- BERLIN

MEIN SCHWULES AUGE
(My Gay Eye)
 - Tom of Finland Special-
Group show curated by Rinaldo Hopf
from 17 August 2018

From 17 August, and over the Folsom festivities in September, we show an exhibition and book presentation by Rinaldo Hopf "My Gay Eye - Tom of Finland Special".

The editor of the book, Rinaldo Hopf, an important figure of German gay art, was Resident Artist at The Tom of Finland Foundation in Los Angeles in 2017 and has been featured for many years with regular exhibitions at The Ballery and many other international venues.

The book contains images from over 120 artists and authors from the global queer communities. Its curators have put a focus on bridging two continents
and the sister cities of Berlin and Los Angeles.

It is a survey of the history, development and influence of the artist
Tom of Finland (Touko Laaksonen, Finnish, 1920-1991)
as expressed through homages and critiques. Additionally, the reader gets a glimpse into the enormous wealth of erotic art and culture that has been protected, preserved and promoted by Tom of Finland Foundation since its inception in 1984.
The relevance of Tom’s art, and that of hundreds of fellow creators, is explored by artists who participate in the Foundation’s programs.

"My Gay Eye" will allow an even wider audience to enjoy and support the importance of queer history and culture while they savor the artwork of Peter Berlin to
Jim French (Colt Studios), George Quaintance to Rinaldo Hopf, Rick Castro,
Tom of Finland to Gengoroh Tagame, Rex and The Hun
to G.B. Jones and Del LaGrace Volcano, and contemporary artists
 Stuart Sandford, and Florian Hetz.

Readers will enjoy German text contributions by
Kevin Clarke to Ralf König and American authors Michael Bullock to Jamison Karon.
This year's My Gay Eye is both in German and English,
making it the first international edition.

---------------------------------

Vom 17.

DRACULA'S CASTLE IS FOR SALE

Bran Castle  situated near Bran and in the immediate vicinity of Braşov, is a national monument and landmark in Romania. Commonly known as "Dracula's Castle", it is the home of the titular character in Bram Stoker's Dracula. There is, however, no evidence that Stoker knew anything about this castle, which has only tangential associations with Vlad III, voivode of Wallachia, the putative inspiration for Dracula. As discovered by the Dutch author Hans Corneel de Roos, the location Bram Stoker actually had in mind for Castle Dracula while writing his novel was an empty mountain top, Mount Izvorul Călimanului, 2,033 metres (6,670 ft) high, located in the Transylvanian Călimani Alps near the former border with Moldavia.
On 18 May 2009, the Bran Castle administration was transferred from the government to the administration of Archduke Dominic and his sisters Maria-Magdalena Holzhausen and Elisabeth Sandhofer. On 1 June 2009, the Habsburgs opened the refurbished castle to the public as the first private museum of the country and disclosed with Bran Village a joint strategic concept to maintain their domination in the Romanian tourist circuit and to safeguard the economic base in the region.
The castle is now a museum open to tourists, displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Marie. Tourists can see the interior individually or by a guided tour. At the bottom of the hill is a small open-air museum park exhibiting traditional Romanian peasant structures (cottages, barns, etc.) from across the country.
The estate recently hit the market for $80 million.

SEDLEC OSSUARY~ THE BONE CHURCH

 Sedlec Ossuary
is a small Roman Catholic chapel, located beneath the Cemetery Church of All Saints  in Sedlec, a suburb of Kutná Hora in the Czech Republic. The ossuary is estimated to contain the skeletons of between 40,000 and 70,000 people, whose bones have in many cases been artistically arranged to form decorations and furnishings for the chapel.
Four enormous bell-shaped mounds occupy the corners of the chapel. An enormous chandelier of bones, which contains at least one of every bone in the human body, hangs from the center of the nave with garlands of skulls draping the vault. Other works include piers and monstrances flanking the altar, a coat of arms of House of Schwarzenberg, and the signature of Rint, also executed in bone, on the wall near the entrance.

BOURGEOIS GET DUMPED IN THE VENICE CANAL

at the Fondazione Prada, celebrities end up in Venice, Grand Canal

bejeweled ladies and men in suits; far too loaded, too full, too everything, under the weight of elegance the private pontiletto of Ca 'Corner della Regina, home of the Fondazione Prada, dangerously tilted to the side. the bridge connecting the shore came off and a dozen people plunged into the Grand Canal. disheveled and drenched, this all happened under the gaze of an appalled Miuccia Prada. she had just arrived to the exhibition "Portable Classic" on miniature reproductions of classic sculptures. The designer was just explaining to his guests the Lilliputian masterpieces from all over the world when, from the shore came screams of despair~ "my prada bags, and channel watches will be ruined!
