IS THIS A TRIBUTE TO HUSTLER WHITE?

i'm not sure how i feel about this band using footage from our film - HUSTLER WHITE.

they give us credit and state- "no copyright infringement intended," and then they lifted the entire clip!

BUT REMOVED OUR SCREEN CREDITS..
so basically they just has us create their music video and then act like it's a homage.

should we be flattered that these guys are creatively lazy? not to mention cheap.

Unofficial music video for "Rescue, Mister" - a new single from the upcoming album "Joyland" by Canadian synthpop group "Trust". Video credits go to Bruce La Bruce & Rick Castro for their 1996 film "Hustler White", a satirical black sex comedy about gay hustlers and their customers in Santa Monica, California.

RICK CASTRO

Los Angeles based Rick Castro is an emblematic figure of this particular school of contemporary artistic developments. Not only is he an acclaimed artist himself, working in a variety of media since the 1980s, but he has also collaborated with some major masters of queer creativity, thus firmly establishing his name in the annals of queer art. Additionally, he runs the Antebellum Gallery, proudly advertised as “the only fetish art gallery in the world”, supporting and introducing the art of like-minded artists. Exclusively for Nakedbutsafe, Rick Castro photographed a series of images paying homage to Pierre Molinier, the 1950s French artist whose self-portraits in drag remain testaments to the power of fetish iconography, having influenced artists ranging from Cindy Sherman to Steven Meisel.

BIG DICK HISTORY MONTH

1. Robert Mapplethorpe, Man in a Polyester Suit, 1980

 ("Mapplethorpe's love / obsession for Moore reached its fullest expression in the photograph some consider his masterpiece, (I do) -- Man in Polyester Suit. . .

 He cropped the photograph at Moore's neck according to his agreement [with Moore], but by isolating the genitals he seemed to to be pandering to the notion that blacks existed only as sex objects.") 

 2. This photo of HBO’s Hung Star Thomas Jane, shot by Jill Greenberg,

 was taken for V-Man‘s “Risk” issue, but not published. A khaki suit was ordered for the shoot, but Greenberg had no interest in doing a straight fashion image, so decided to create an homage to Robert Mapplethorpe’s infamous Man in the Polyester Suit photograph. 

This image was eventually published in American Photography 28.
