So This Is How The World Will End: by Rick Castro 4/8/2020
Did you ever think you would see something as cute as this in your entire life?!
Bee's..... fruit cozy?.... or just cozy. I decided to put fruit in the little sections of this piece of brightly colored fabric, hand embroidered with little designs, trimmed in Rickrack, (when was the last time you saw Rickrack) with snaps to make each section larger or smaller!
Does anyone remember this game we played as children where we'd take a piece of paper, write directions on each section, then fold into a little Origami? This is like that! A Mexican Origami version.... Bee's cabin has everything.
Had another bout with the plague last night. I’m not trying to be dramatic, ( any more than usual)
but I do feel I’ve had it going on five times. Before everyone jumps all over me,
no I didn’t go to a doctor, no I wasn't diagnosed, and no I wasn’t tested, (I’m not a rich, white celebrity or basketball player) but I know my body, I know what the flu feels like, I know what a cold feels like. This was nothing like any of those. This felt/feels different.
A new experience in illness. All the info I’ve read online, and account of illness by Chris Como, mirror my symptoms.
With that said, here are my suggestions; if anyone wants to take them, drink only hot liquids, tea, water, soups. The virus hates hot. Gargle with mouthwash, vinegar or saltwater-warm water. Try oil pulling, using virgin coconut oil. Try a Neti pot, but be careful. It has to be very sterile, or you risk infection. No sugar, no smoking, low carbs. tons & tons of vitamin C through oranges, lemons, veggies. Overload on vitamin C. Raw ginger, allot of it, and turmeric. All kinds of hot tea, all the time. Make tea with ginger, cinnamon, clove, pepper, mint. This is how I was able to fend off the plague… 5 times. Each time is milder.
My cousin Minguini, (not his real name) whom I haven’t seen in years texted me! His family has a trailer down the street,
(remember I said everyone in the family but me has property) turns out he’s been here for a week. Minguini decided it was better for his 84 yr old mum, (my auntie Sylvia on Bee’s side thru marriage) to be here in the high desert. I agree. Minguini was so sweet, he brought me food and paper towels, and will bring me DVDs. Next week he’ll come back and try to pirate my sister’s wifi!.. She claims to not know the password….. We'll just leave it at that.
He’s my little angel savior in the high desert, just when I was starting to run low. Minguini told me, “I’m here for you cousin. Whatever you need.” He is the FIRST family member to reach out to me. I told him to tell auntie Sylvia I love her, and then we both said,
“I love you cousin.”
I had my second virtual tea salon today: Quarantea, with four tea guests. We had such a nice time, chattin about anything & everything. I showed them Bee’s quilted doily collection, they were very impressed, and then I told them about the roasted orange duck I made. They didn’t believe me, so I showed them. It came out really good.. I’m very proud of myself. I purchased at ALDI in Hesperia a week or so ago for $10! Don’t use the orange glaze sauce that comes with the duck. That sauce contains too many chemicals, sodium and calories. I made my own sauce from scratch with oranges from Al’s tree in Monterey Park. I picked myself,
the day before I fled LA. I then made a reduction with the duck juices, red wine and more oranges. Yum, Yum, Yum.
So this is how the world will end.
