for the 2nd year i had the privilege to present my
ANTEBELLUM POP UP GALLERY in the
TOM OF FINLAND HOUSE.
here's the backstory....
way back in the late 80s, (before all of yous was born)
TOF president durk dehner became my first photo collector.
durk also published my first book of photography entitled-
CASTRO, (1990) dpr press.
durk asked where i would like to have my book signing. i'm sure he thought i would choose one of the many bookstores or coffeehouses.
" i want to have my signing in the tom's house dungeon," i excitingly replied.
durk was definitely taken aback. the dungeon was his private space.
it had never been open to the public.
after thinking about it for awhile..a few days even, he agreed.
the event was amazing on so many levels.
my first book, the first time the dungeon was seen publicly. one of the first times the house had a mixed crowd- gay/straight/bi/trans etc.
21 years later- 2015 TOF FOUNDATION honored me with an
i asked if i could have my antebellum gallery in the dungeon for this event.
BTW- i'd been asking durk for the dungeon for the past 4 years and he always said no.
well i finally got my second yes from him.
i was given the honor once again to create my pop-up antebellum gallery in the
tom's house dungeon 2016.
after some minor glitches, (removing the dead bodies etc) the dungeon was once again created with love & desire
for just 2 days.
the tom of Finland dungeon is a sacred spot.
the space has seen it's share of play & practice throughout the years.
the energy is perfect for me.
i'm so at home in the tom's house dungeon.
the space is special for durk dehner, and it's very special for me as well,
and brings my full history home with the TOF FOUNDATION.
thank you so much durk dehner & sr sharp for allowing me to occupy the dungeon.
i love it here!
check out all the lustful pics-
