PALANCA

antebellum artist~ PALANCA has left us. i called him plancha, (which means iron) as a little nick~name.
plancha was possibly the best foot fetish artist to date. his artworks were featured in antebellum's ~ FOOLS FOR FEET exhibition way back in 2008.
palanca was a sweet man, very creative and original. i have fond memories of him sucking my toes thru an entire dinner party. he only came up for under the dinning table once the entire night.
i know you are in foot heaven dear plancha~ RIP

here is a repost from TOM'S BLOG~
Sadly, Pedro Santillana a.k.a. PALANCA,
passed away yesterday, Tuesday 22nd July.
He was having liver problems related to his HIV condition for some years.

FEATURED ARTIST: PALANCA. The Foundation recently connected with a wonderful artist out of Peru, whose artist name is PALANCA… He is presently visiting the states, and we have been working with him to assist in pricing his works and looking for ways to expose these wonderful creations to a broader public. -ToFF’s Dispatch, Summer 2001
PALANCA – crudely sexual and delicious. In 2001 Palanca went to Los Angeles where he met the founder and the curator of Tom of Finland Foundation (ToFF). He showed at the Tom of Finland Art Fair, L.A. Pride’s Erotic City and TOM’s Bar. In L.A. he also met filmmaker Chris Maher. In 2007 he was honored with a Special Recognition from ToFF. -TOM’s Blog, April 2014

ANTHONY DE FRANGE

Anthony De Frange was an active member of the lively San Francisco Gay Community during important and formative years of the 60's and 70's.
He showed at the Geary Gallery and his work appeared in many venues including the cover of "California Scene." His work is currently in the collection of the Leslie/Lohman Gallery in New York. His paintings are a visual legacy of a culture, generation and era fundamental to queer history and identity. Antebellum Hollywood has one orginial De Frange oil painting circa~ 1967.. very rare...come by and check it out

LAST NIGHT @ ANTEBELLUM

we honored our longtime collaboration with artist and friend~ CARLOS BATTS.
ANTEBELLUM has been many things over the years and last night it felt like church, but a really good church!
i met carlos batts when i first opened antebellum way back in 2005. batts invited me to be part of an exhibition he was curating called~ CRAZY/SEXY/HOLLYWOOD.  a group show including batts, dave naz, steve diet goedde, patrick holeck, estevan oriol and me~ rick castro.  i was the token homo. batts mixed it up big time.  back in 2005 some people had a problem with my very homoerotic bondage images juxtaposed with very hetroerotic images. carlos did not. in fact he pushed it. "this is the way it should be," he told me.
over the years carlos & lillian batts have contributed to many exhibitions @ antebellum, including~
BLACKS, a group exhibition of erotic artworks, all genders all sexualities, all black. it was a groundbreaking show.

AUTOMOLOVE, FUCK LOVE, DIRTY SHOW HOLLYWOOD, APRIL FLORES TOY SHOW... we did so many great exhibitions together. i used to get soooo mad at carlos because he was always late installing the art. i wanted to start first thing in the morning. batts would saunter in late afternoon. i'd be pissed. i would turn to lillian and say, " you tell him something i can't get him to listen to me." lillian would reply, " i just let him do whatever he wants. it all works out that way."
now that is a marriage! carlos & lillian batts are my favorite married couple.
CARLOS & LILLIAN BATTS FOREVER
