 Librería El Insulto, (The Insult Library) is an art collective dedicated to the recovery, conservation, and promotion of an archive on sexual culture in Mexico. It is a political and intellectual response to the absence of a public archive on sexual culture in Mexico where one can go to encounter the erotic past and reactivate emotional relationships with the materials.

Archivo El Insulto focuses its collection on printed material from the twentieth century within Mexican circulation. It currently holds approximately 4,000 publications –books, magazines, and other ephemera–, 500 photographs and postcards, a dozen three-dimensional objects, and it continues to grow.

A SEASON IN HELL

 is an extended poem in prose written and published in 1873 by French writer 

Arthur Rimbaud.

 It is the only work that was published by Rimbaud himself. 

The book had a considerable influence on later artists and poets, including the Surrealists.

 Arthur Rimbaud 

 20 October 1854 – 10 November 1891)

French poet known for his influence on modern literature and arts, which prefigured surrealism. 

Born in Charleville-Mézières, he started writing at a very young age and excelled as a student, but abandoned his formal education in his teenage years to run away from home to Paris amidst the Franco-Prussian War. During his late adolescence and early adulthood he began the bulk of his literary output, then completely stopped writing at the age of 21, after assembling one of his major works, Illuminations.

Rimbaud was known to have been a libertine and a restless soul, having engaged in an at-times-violent romantic relationship with fellow poet Paul Verlaine, which lasted nearly two years. 

 As a poet, Rimbaud is well known for his contributions to Symbolism and, among other works,

 for A Season in Hell, a precursor to modernist literature.

Pier Paolo Pasolini

 (5 March 1922 – 2 November 1975)

 an Italian film director, poet, writer, and intellectual, who also distinguished himself as an actor, journalist, novelist, playwright, and political figure.

 He remains a controversial personality in Italy due to his blunt style and the focus of some of his works on taboo sexual matters, but he is an established major figure in European literature and cinematic arts. His murder prompted an outcry in Italy and its circumstances continue to be a matter of heated debate.

For this month's book club we encourge members to reserch Pasolini and choose any book about 
 his life, films, writings or art.

We will discuss our various findings!
