Anubis- Egyptian god of the dead, and the afterlife, depicted as a jackal-headed appearance. He served as the guardian of tombs, embalmer of souls, and judge of the dead. Anubis is credited with inventing the mummification process to preserve the body of Osiris. Priests would often wear jackal masks while performing funerary rites to impersonate the god.
