My photography is lust filled with dark desires.
I appreciate, and proudly present homoerotic representation smack in the face of heteronormativity. When I started taking photos back in 1986, I received allot of negative response, definitely from hetero, but also within the homo community. During that era fetish was somewhat unknown and misunderstood.
It pleases me to say in 2023 my images are embraced. Especially by young
people no matter gender or sexual persuasion.
Unfortunately, at the same time we find ourselves in another era which I call Weimar Amerikkka. Censorship once again is rampant; this time on social media, which is the mainstay of communication in the twenty-first century. I know what it's like to not have civil rights. I refuse to go back to being a second class citizen. I believe Schmutzig und Mutig are my comrades in this opinion.
Perhaps my photography is the Los Angeles counterpoint to Schmutzig und Mutig? LA is very different in culture from Berlin, but geographically similar. Both cities are sprawling, difficult to get around and have a bombed out generic look.
My choices for this issue follow suit with the traditional seven keys to resilience; know who you are, meditation, stay connected, self-care, continually test boundaries, rest and have fun.
