On behalf of Hollywood Forever, we would love to invite you to attend the opening night of RICK CASTRO FOREVER: Photographic Retrospective of Life & Death exhibition from renowned photographer and Los Angeles native, Rick Castro at the Cemetery’s historic Columbarium. 

Please join us on Thursday, October 5th at the Hollywood Forever’s Columbarium
(6000 Santa Monica Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90038) from 4:00-7:00PM PT
for a VIP reception and exhibition viewing of 87 of Castro’s incredible, avant garde photographs curated by Hollywood Forever’s President, Tyler Cassity.

What you can expect:

Starting on October 5th through November 30th, the exhibition at Hollywood Forever will display 87 of Rick Castro’s most captivating photographs from 1986 through 2022, 
curated by Hollywood Forever’s President Tyler Cassity. Stay informed about special events and walk throughs during the run.

The 87 works feature mask wearing as well as portraits of different figures related to Hollywood Forever (including  trans residents – The Goddess Bunny  AKA Sandi Crisp and Holly Woodlawn, images from Hollywood Cemetery circa 1990, Gore Vidal, ( not a resident) as well as intimate photographic portraits of Rick’s family members over time.

The free and open to the public exhibition will reflect themes of love, melancholy, meditation and remembrance with inclusions of masks images as an offering for Día de Los Muertos. 


About Rick Castro

Rick Castro is known for his distinctive photography, which has gained him recognition since the 1980s for his avant garde style and unique presentation of the LGBTQ community. Castro’s photography has been exhibited at Rick Owens: Inhuman, Subhuman, Superhuman, Triennale Di Milano, Queer Communion: Ron Athey, Participant Gallery, NYC and ICA Los Angeles, and  Queering the Lens, Getty Center. His photographic editorials have been used by Christian Dior Homme, Cartier, and Rick Owens.
