Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde
(16 October 1854 – 30 November 1900)
was an Irish poet and playwright.
After writing in different forms throughout the 1880s,
he became one of London's most popular playwrights in the early 1890s.
He is best remembered for his epigrams and plays, his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray,
and the circumstances of his imprisonment and early death.
Oscar Wilde is considered a literary & gay icon, and the great-grandfather of gay rights.
Here are but a few of Oscar's epigrams~
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.”
"Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future."
"True friends stab you in the front."
