THE LIVING THEATRE @ ANTEBELLUM HOLLYWOOD

  • AUGUST 27TH- 2016- 8:15PM @ ANTEBELLUM HOLLYWOOD

from the moment the 13 person company of THE LIVING THEATRE
entered antebellum hollywood, the energy shifted.
they sat in the center of the gallery cross-legged in a sacred circle.
the audience surrounded them.... in silence.... for 10 minutes!
    it was so powerful.
people were already getting emotional. i was emotional, and that was just the beginning.

i could tell you all the details- the catharic ups & downs, and the strenght of live political theatre,
     but i won't.
i want my dear readers to seek out THE LIVING THEATRE,
(the oldest experimental theatre group in the country)
and the next time you hear about a performance- GO!

    HERE'S THE INFO-

after 1 12 hours as the performance came to an end- with not a dry eye in the room-
i told my friend bill kaiser next to me-  " that was better than church!"

THANK YOU ROY JOHNS FOR MAKING THIS HAPPEN

here is the living theatre's own account of the evening-

Arriving at the Antebellum Gallery in Hollywood we, our friends and family surrounded by sexual freeness, celebration of penis, one sacred vagina, bougainvillea stretching its airy walls of comfort, sex beauty, fetish of human, a place to be ourselves, rejoicing in queer, aroused, ready, expressive we set up our ritual in the center of the space and carried out a powerful rite with all of the magic curator Rick Castro and those who attended brought to the room.

"Before war," or Antebellum in Latin, is a theme on this #KNOWYOURRITES tour. We find ourselves in a state STILL and all ways surrounded by war. The Antebellum gallery exemplifies the love and sex liberation that exists outside of war and the power sex and sensuality can have in neutralizing war.

This was a soulful night. Thanks to Rick Castro, the artist and curator keeping this spirit ripe and ready to burst, for inviting us in and inspiring us further. Thank you to the friends and family who came to feed us. Your nourishing love is much needed at this point in the tour as we touch the wall and turn back towards the rest of the land looking at it with new perspective to dive back in-
