TODAY IS ANTEBELLUM HOLLYWOOD'S 10 YEAR BIRTHDAY/ANNIVERSARY!

today is the 10 year anniversary/birthday of ANTEBELLUM HOLLYWOOD.
antebellum's humble beginnings started way back on november 11th, 2005.
i opened the gallery with MARK HARVEY. we had spent approx.. 4 months getting the space together. installing additional track lighting, cleaning up a filthy forgotten alley way that would become antebellum's magical tea garden. TONY WARD installed the picture rails that i based on victorian style of wall hanging. tony also put wheels on my desk and display cases. rick owens first prototype table, (rick & michele lamy used to have their studios next door) became my banquet table.

antebellum hollywood is in the store front that used to be
 BAROQUE BOOKS, (1972 - 1998)
owned by  RED STODOLSKY~  the book dealer for writers
CHARLES BUKOWSKI and HENRY MILLER.
during the late 1950s there was a feminist/lesbian bookshop in the space.

from 2000 til 2003 michele lamy's brother used the space as an optical shop for the families eyewear company. then my good friend IRIS PARKER created
DIA DE NOTE her perfumery in the space.

the building was constructed in 1924 by the uncle of  film critic KEVIN THOMAS, ( i know this because he told me) as  complementary shops for the egyptian theater .

The building has been in numerous films ranging from “The Cotton Club” to “Knocked Up.”

for the last 10 years i have curated and created some amazing salons here.
