JOSE DE JUAN AT WORK
Film by Eric Minh Swenson, Music by Kim Richmond
Jose L. De Juan: Jose studied at the Madrid Art Academy in his native Madrid,Spain.
While pursuing a career as a computer artists in several L.A. area studios -creating
anything from digital chipmunk hair to digital zombie warts- ,
he rekindled his passion for painting.
After nosing around in different art departments he decided to seek the guidance and inspiration
directly from his favorite artists by attending workshops with the likes of Jennifer McChristian,
Tony Pro, Sherri McGraw, Andrew Peters, Alex Schaefer and other generous mentors.
Jose is an avid plein air painter and finds inspiration in the city and its surroundings,
from laundromats and freeways to the San Gabriel mountains and the sea.
As often as he cans, he packs his gear and sets out to be surprised.
He thinks light is what renders any subject worthy of representation and hopes his artwork
will convey the beauty that arouses our luminosity within.
He is an artist member of the California Art Club and other organizations.
He has exhibited widely in California.
Jose lives with his life-parter of ten years, Armando, in a crammed apartment in Pasadena.
