BRENDAN MULLEN~ FOUNDER OF THE MASQUE IS DEAD

Brendan Mullen dies at 60; founder of influential Masque punk rock club
The Hollywood venue, which opened in 1977, quickly became a crucible for emerging, anarchic L.A. groups like the Weirdos and the Germs and later X and the Go-Go's.
i remember Brendan well from back in the day, (1977!) when he asked me to draw & create fliers for THE MASQUE. i gladly accepted the job... the first night @ the masque is now punk rock/music history... EVERYONE performed there- THE GERMS, THE GO-GOs, THE DICKIES, THE WEIRDOs, THE BAGES, THE SCREAMERS, X, THE ALLEY CATS, THE DILLS, if they had a band in 1977, they performed @ THE MASQUE.

After the Masque closed in 1978, Brandan Mullen booked an eclectic mix of acts -- punk, pop, jazz and blues -- at Club Lingerie for more than a decade.

Brendan Mullen, died Monday after suffering a massive stroke over the weekend. He was 60.
Mullen died at Ventura County Medical Center, said his companion of 16 years, Kateri Butler. The couple had been traveling through Santa Barbara and Ventura celebrating his 60th birthday, which was Friday. - READ MORE-
