RUPERT EVERETT WOULD'VE SLEPT WITH MJ

AD-MJ-26
former actor rupert everett has some amazing things to say about michael jackson's death, obama and america. although he has some great quotable points, he's still a dick. i remember photographing him for the advocate back in 1987, and he was an arrogant prick. somewhat like the celebrities he despises.
Michael Jackson: Why it's better that he died, says Rupert Everett.

"I would have leapt at the chance of sleeping with Michael Jackson when I was 14."

"He was a freak," says Everett, who at 50 is the same age Jacko was when he died.

"He looked like a character from Shrek. He was a black to white minstrel. He was crucified by that court case when he was accused of child molestation - that killed him.

"He personified the pain and anxiety of a black man in a slave country. We all watched as he changed from black to white. He was living performance art.

"I think it was fortuitous that he died. He was supposed to be doing 50 concerts in London.

"It wouldn't have mattered how good or bad he was. He wouldn't have managed to do all of them and the press would have destroyed him."

Everett believes that Jacko's death may even spell the end of modern-day celebrity itself.

"You cannot divide the music from the person,"

"I think his life - and death - is a great lesson.

"I think we are going to see the end of celebrity as we know it. Showbusiness is not an honest profession."

Everett likens the extremities of today's fame to the debauched Versailles court of Marie Antoinette, which sparked the French revolution.

"It's like the last days of Versailles," he says. "I do wonder how much more bullshit people can take about celebrities." Everett has been part of that debauched showbiz world since he got his big break in the acclaimed 1982 West End play turned hit film Another Country, which was loosely based on the schooldays of gay communist spy Guy Burgess.

"We're living in very strange times," says Everett, "We have Michael Jackson, a black man who has gone white, and we have President Barack Obama, who is a half-white man gone black. It's absolutely fascinating to watch."

"America is a weird place now. In the US cartoons are more realistic than real-life.
