Otto Preminger got in touch with Frank Sinatra for the background music at the bar. Frank told Otto it's no use trying to get rights to an actual song -- homosexual bars were all but illegal in that era and no music publisher would want to gamble. So Sinatra got some background music and ad-libbed the words. Listen close and it's obvious he is not singing any real song at all. Otto Preminger and Frank Sinatra, despite all the negative chatter about them, were progressive for that era. It took both men's clout to get a scene like this approved by the Movie Production Code even during the Kennedy years. A very interesting look at the Bad Old Days. IT IS POSSIBLE "Club 602" was code from some production designer from Cleveland, Ohio, which had a gay bar called the "620" in the same era. This also could be a rumor started later.
