MY DREAM WAS IN BLACK & WHITE.
I'M TOLD WE ALL DREAM IN BLACK & WHITE. WELL THIS DREAM PLAYED OUT LIKE A MOVIE... NOIRISH AND EERIE.
I WAS IN A SCIENTIFIC FACILITY WORKING AS SOME KIND OF... SCIENTIST. THERE WAS A HUGE VAT OF WATER THAT RAN LIKE A RIVER THRU THIS FACILITY. ROUND THE CLOCK OBSERVATION HAD BEEN PLACED ON THE HUMAN~LIKE OBJECT. I WAS TOLD IT LAY DEAD OR DORMANT AT THE END OF THIS POOL. I WAS HAUNTED BY IT. I COULD SEE IT'S VAGUE OUTLINE FROM MY DESK, BUT DID NOT WANT TO APPROACH. MANY OTHERS HAD GONE UP TO IT AND DECLARED IT DEAD. I ON THE OTHER HAND DIDN'T WANT TO SEE IT.. MY SCIENTIFIC PROFESSIONALISM WENT OUT THE WINDOW ON THIS ONE. I HAD NO CURIOSITY TO EXAMINE IT. IN FACT IT SCARED ME. IT BROUGHT A CHILL TO MY SOUL I COULDN'T DESCRIBE, BUT I WILL TRY... I COULD SEE A BEHEMOTH LYING UNDERNEATH THE IN-DOOR RIVER. I COULD SEE SOMETHING DARK AND FOREBODING. SOMETHING NOT TO BE TAMPERED WITH. LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE. SOMETIMES ONE DOESN'T NEED TO KNOW EVERYTHING. THIS IS HOW I FELT. I DIDN'T NEED TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS.
MANY PEOPLE HAD BEEN WALKING UP TO IT, COMING BACK AND GIVING THIER OPINIONS. "IT IS DECOMPOSING, IT IS PREHISTORIC, IT IS DECAYING, IT IS ANCIENT," WERE SOME OF THE PROFESSIONAL DESCRIPTIONS.
AFTER WHAT SEEMED LIKE A VERY LONG TIME, ENCOURAGED BY MY COLLAGES TO CHECK IT OUT, I GOT UP THE COURAGE TO DO SO. I WALKED OVER TO THE LARGE BODY OF WATER AND STEPPED ONTO THE OBSERVATION BRIDGE. SHEEPISHLY I LEANED OVER AND CAUGHT A GLIMPSE. IT WAS SO VERY BIG. IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS IN PAIN. THE EXPRESSION ON THE FACE WAS STRAINED. SAD... DEEP... FRIGHTENING. I LOOKED AT HALLOW SOCKETS THAT WERE IT'S EYES. THEY OPENED. "IT'S ALIVE!."
I SCREAMED AND RAN BACK TO MY CUBICLE. IT SAT UP OUT OF THE RIVER. IT WAS LURCHING OVER TRYING TO GET UP. PANIC STRUCK. ABOUT 30 OF US RAN FOR THE DOORWAY. IT STEPPED OUT OF THE RIVER AND FOLLOWED US LOOKING HALF DEAD, BUT MOVING VERY MUCH ALIVE. IT LOOKED AT ME. IT LOOKED DIRECTLY AT ME, IT WAS ATTACHED TO ME. IT WANTED ME. WAS THIS SOME KIND OF NARCISSISTIC PERVERSION FOR ME TO THINK THAT THIS GIANT DOOM WANTED ME?
WE RAN TO THE SECURITY DOORS AND SHUT THEM TIGHT. WOW THAT WAS CLOSE THE ADRENALINE WAS PUMPING. WHAT WAS THAT? WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? I'VE NEVER BEEN MORE SCARED IN MY LIFE.
I THINK I RAN HOME.
THERE WERE RUMORS THAT IT HAD ESCAPED.
THE STATE OF FEAR WAS ON EVERYONES MIND. THER WAS TALK OF EVACUATING THE CITY. SOMEHOW I FELT COMFORT IN BEING AT HOME. SOMEHOW I THOUGHT I COULD EVADE IT. THERE WERE NOISES IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. YOU COULD HEAR PEOPLE RUMBLING AND FEEL THE SENSE OF UNEASE.

I THINK I RAN HOME.
THERE WERE RUMORS THAT IT HAD ESCAPED.I SAT ON MY PORCH. HOW COULD I FEEL COMFORT HERE? WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME? THERE WERE GASPS, SCREAMS. I WALKED OUT ONTO MY TREE~LINED STREET AND THERE IN THE NOT SO DISTANT, DISTANCE WAS IT. BIGGER THAN HOUSES LONG, SKINNY SHOCKING. IT WAS SEARCHING. SEARCHING FOR ME. I DECIDED TO MAKE A RUN FOR IT. I RAN OUT ONTO THE STREET AND IMMEDIATELY IT WAS UPON ME. I TRED TO GO FASTER, BUT MY OWN FEAR GOT IN MY WAY. I RAN FOR COVER ACROSS THE STREET AND HID BEHIND THESE LITTLE BUSHES. ROSE BUSHES. MAYBE I'M SO SMALL AND IT'S SO BIG IT WON'T NOTICE ME. THIS WAS MY PATHETIC RATIONAL. IT FOUND ME ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. IT SMILED. IT LIKED ME? TOWERING ABOVE ME IT LEANED DOWN WITH IT'S HUGE DEAD HAND TO SCOOP ME UP LIKE KING KONG DOES TO FAY WRAY FOR ETERNITY.
SUDDENLY I WOKE UP. IT WAS 6:23AM.
