RUSSELL CLARK

august 8th, 2012 would  have been Russell Clark's   64th birthday.
our dear friend, the incredibly talented dancer & choreographer Russell Clark died of cancer Nov. 12th, 2001 at  his Hollywood home. He was 53.
 A  Philadelphia native, Russell was the son of Steve Clark, part of the tap dancing team the Clark Brothers. Russell received his education at Emerson College in Boston, then pursued advanced studies in London and Paris before pursuing his performance career.
His choreography can be seen in such films as "The Banger Sisters," starring Goldie Hawn and Susan Sarandon, "The New Guy," starring Eddie Griffin and DJ Qualls, "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," featuring Angela Bassett and Whoopi Goldberg, "Why Do Fools Fall in Love," featuring Halle Berry, and "Major Payne" (American Choreography Award nominee), starring Damon Wayans.
Other film credits include "Blade Runner," "Star Man" , "Devil in a Blue Dress, " and of course~ XANADU!
His television work includes "Crossing Jordan," "Any Day Now, Dharma & Greg, "The NAACP Image Awards" and more.. Miniseries work includes "The Temptations" (Image Awards recipient for Best Mini Series, American Choreography Award nominee), "Shake, Rattle & Roll" and "Little Richard" plus Showtime film "Holiday Heart" and this year's VH1 film "MC Hammer: Too Legit to Quit" (nominated for an American Choreography Award).


He also choreographed more than 100 musicvideos starring Beck, LL Cool J, Michael Jackson, Gloria Estefan, Queen Latifah, Smokey Robinson, George Clinton, David Bowie, Celine Dion and more.
Additionally, he worked on more than 30 national commercials.


Many celebrities were coached by him for some of their roles, including Jack Nicholson, Jeff Bridges, Denzel Washington, Ving Rhames, Alfrie Woodard and Drew Barrymore.

Russell  received a Governors kudo at the American Choreography.
his friend's & family think of him often and he is greatly missed.
