ORIENTALISM

In the nineteenth century, following the Napoleonic campaigns in Egypt, French painters and writers suddenly developed a consuming passion for the East. Fascinated by the splendors  of the sultan’s court, excited by the mysteries of harems, Jean~Leon Jerome, Delacroix, Ingres and many others started to represent Turkish baths, half-naked slaves, the opulence of the Arabian Nights. Inspired by this Orientalist movement, photographer Eric Lanuit reinterpreted its codes : sparkling colors, languid bodies, warm and sensual lights. Instead of goddesses and virgin slave-girls however, he prefers the beauty of dark and muscular princes, with their sensual and abandoned bodies, immersed in a picture "perspirant the amber perfumes, musk and sandalwood of a harem of imaginary boys".

HOT COUTURE. The manual sewing under its multiple forms (cross stitch, dive, free sewing) on supports not dedicated to this technique - let us be everything but some tissue there. Embroidery on papers, tapestries, vinyl records, plastic bags, digital editions... The “thread” as the main medium of expression and representation.
The various craft techniques of the sewing allow me to create a gap with what is represented, so confronting often very distant universes.

I apply the task to prick scenes - often in sexual connotation - points by points, in a slow and meticulous process; so wanting to make some sewing - craft and feminine said work - a major art.
My work can take very different forms, by basing me on the medium.

My name is Rico, I was born in Paris - France. Passionate about drawing. My life is all about creative desires of handcraft experiments and sexually explicit and Queer illustrations.
The Project FUCK ME RICO, started in 2013 with no particular goal, if it's not, that it had to be totally oriented into the raw erotic gay porn illustration, without any sense of decency. An experience straightforward, without any remorse. A desire to go beyond the borders while considering the stage lightning.
The evolution of the project, focuses on the importance of black and white, mainly done on Kraft paper - my favorite - and also on the attractiveness of the use of limited and pure colors on Japanese plywood boards.
