i convinced my friends glen meadmore & allura to accompany me to solvang on tuesday..
they seemed like they wanted to go, but once we got there were board as two bricks.... nothing i could do would cheer them up. so i just galavanted on my lonesome, taking in the sights and sounds of SOLVANG; the happiest place on earth, and the location for the classic slasher film- HOMICIDAL by william castle.
here are some pics-
(standing underneath a solvang gazebo.. so quaint)
( the world's largest clog- besides being popular with danes, solvang is also a hotbed for hippies & lesbians)
(i found a "tearoom," in solvang!)
(solvang- circa 1961, the location used for filming- HOMICIDAL. we had lunch @ this same spot!)
after we left solvang we traveled a few miles to
LOS OLIVOS and my travel partners perked up.. we all really enjoyed the BROTHERS RESTAURANT @ MATTEI'S TAVERN
(penny & i in front of the original guest house of mattei's tavern- los olivos)
(the original water tower of mattei's tavern established- 1886)
( the wisteria of mattei's tavern)
Remember when we had a glass of wine at the old train station (now a nice restaurant) after visiting Monty Roberts' farm? You are the only non-horse person I know who would be able to see the beauty and enjoy it without nagging me to leave. I think the fact that he was the one who taught James Dean to cowboy up and was the first person called when he died (his ranch at the time was near the scene) might've spiced it up. Too bad there wasn't anything for bored bricks that day. L
