critique~
the atmosphere. service and food was excellent. the weakest link was the tea itself~ bagged!~ that's a real tea faux pas.
the company of auralynn was a joy.. she is the perfect tea guest.
towards the end of our tea we were interrupted by two women who wanted to share our area. that would've been fine, but the one lady, (in the "industry") saw no social or privacy barrier and barged her way onto our tea salon and conversation. she was so boisterous and self~aggrandizing, it cut our tea party a little bit short.

  1. Rick, since you're so in to Tea Time it's high time you get it right. High Tea is a a working class meal served after five and the food is pickled fish, meat, meat pies, heavy things like that. Low Tea served in the afternoon on low tables and is what you had. The High/Low mix-up is a common misconception in the U.S. I think it must have to do with our general Anglophilia -everything British is high minded and all of that.

  2. yes you're right..
i was referring to the way the hotel listed the tea service... since i'm not in UK i don't necessarily go by UK etiquette. however i do have high tea every day @ antebellum~ 5pm sharp. i must confess to you that i usually have something sweet with my "high tea."
i think one is allowed to create their tea as they see fit.
starting in 2013~ antebellum will open every wednesday for high tea~5pm sharp~ $5 donation.
would you be interested to attend?
