WILDE'S LEGACY TO LGBTQ COMMUNITY
Oscar Wilde, during his travels after release from prison,
called himself Sebastian Melmoth, deriving this pseudonym
from the title character in his great-uncle's novel and from Saint Sebastian.
Wilde, an Irish writer and poet, was about as "out of the closet" as was possible for the late 19th century,
and is himself considered to be a gay icon.
