ANTEBELLUM~ 6 @ 11-11-11
ANTEBELLUM gallery turned 6 years old on 11-11-11.
what a joyous and happy occasion.
as you all know, antebellum is very much into numerology so this once-in-a-life-time date was equally special and powerful.

MARINA ABRAMOVIC IS TOO GOOD FOR LA
ART EDUCATION is badly needed in these troubled american times. just the mere hint of nudity sends these so called "art patrons" scurrying like scared rats... after an incredible tour thru europe and recently new york, renowned artist- MARINA ABRAMOVIC is already receiving flack from art dullards here in LA..
how pathetic... listen people... if nudity scares you... read a fucking art book and take a course in art history.
here's the article~
Yvonne Rainer Denounces Marina Abramovic's Planned MOCA Gala Performance as "Grotesque"
by Julia Halperin
Published: November 11, 2011
The Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art’s annual gala is one of the most highly anticipated events of the fall art season — previous editions have included such headliners as Lady Gaga and guests like Brangelina — and this year it may also be among the most controversial. The November 12 party, which boasts performance artist Marina Abromavic as creative director and musician Debbie Harry as an honoree, is already ruffling some feathers in the local art community. Renowned dancer, choreographer, and filmmaker Yvonne Rainer has written a letter to MOCA director Jeffrey Deitch indicting Abramovic’s planned performance for the event, which she calls “grotesque” and “verg[ing] on economic exploitation.” Sent to the museum director yesterday evening, the complaint was also signed by a number of art figures including Douglas Crimp, Tom Knechtel, and Monica Majoli.
MELANCHOLIA
ok i saw a sneak screener of LARS VON TRIER'S new film~
MELANCHOLIA.... what can i say.... his creation of dogma style filmmaking way back in the 90s was epic. i LOVED Antichrist, i thought Breaking The Waves, Dancer In The Dark and Dogville changed the way films are created. The Kingdom series are absolute genius..
this film.....
the first scene- the wedding~ is great... udo keir is brilliant.
charlotte rampling brilliant.... kirsten dunst not so much..
she is out of her league. i usually love charlotte gainsbourg, but in this film she's trying too hard.
the second part- the end of the world~.. i just don't get it... it think it's very hard to create an end of the world flick without it being a disaster film.
in fact i've never seen it done.
