Playwright, writer, actor and gay lierary icon GORE VIDAL, who is as famous for his work as he is for his well-known family, has just put his Hollywood Hills home on the market.
Vidal's first book was published when he was just 19. he wrote The City and the Pillar (1948), which outraged mainstream critics as one of the first major American novels to feature unambiguous homosexuality. gore also wrote the cult classic-
myra breckinridge and screenplays for ben hur, suddenly last summer, the best man and caligula.
gore has starred in movies such as Gattaca, Bob Roberts and With Honors after running for congress in 1960 and California governor in 1982. His cousin is Al Gore and his step-sister is Jaqueline Kennedy. Vidal purchased his Outpost Estates home in 1977 for a mere $149,500 and is now asking for $3.495 million for the private Mediterranean property.
The 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom house rests on a 20,000 square-foot lot.
