LIKE BROKEBACK WOULD NEVER HAPPEN

HELENA, Mont. — At a time when gays have been gaining victories across the country, the Republican Party in Montana still wants to make homosexuality illegal.

The party adopted an official platform in June that keeps a long-held position in support of making homosexual acts illegal, a policy adopted after the Montana Supreme Court struck down such laws in 1997.

The fact that it's still the official party policy more than 12 years later, despite a tidal shift in public attitudes since then and the party's own pledge of support for individual freedoms, has exasperated some GOP members.

"I looked at that and said, 'You've got to be kidding me,'" state Sen. John Brueggeman, R-Polson, said last week. "Should it get taken out? Absolutely. Does anybody think we should be arresting homosexual people? If you take that stand, you really probably shouldn't be in the Republican Party."

FETSH AS FASHION?

did you see the new JEREMY SCOTT collection for SS11?

jeremy very blatantly presents fetish in his collection in a commercial/consumerist way.. i'm not sure how i feel about this..
is it mainstream catching up with fetish, or the end of creativity?
i'm in a quandary.. what do you think?
on the plus side he did use model of the moment-
TRAVIS LEE HANSON!

GLADYS MAY

she was a fashion icon and colorful figure during the 1980s los angeles. GLADYS MAY would go out every-night with her son steven may, BF jeff judd and myself. we went everywhere from gay bars, the china club, art exhibits, including avedon's opening where i witnessed avendon whisper in glady's ear, and watched her burst into tears. "what did he say to you?' i asked. "he said i was beautiful," she replied..
gladys was a beauty and one in a million. i believe we went to the premiere of CRUISING together, gladys resplendent in THIERRY MUGLER from head to toe crossed the GLAD picket line without a flinch.

sweet gladys passed away a few years ago.

60 years of fashion history up for auction
By Jennifer Sullivan
Seattle Times staff reporter
TACOMA — From the time she was a little girl designing her own clothes until she was well into her 80s, Gladys May loved to adorn herself in the highest of haute couture.

So fashion collectors giggled and gasped in delight Friday as they pawed through May's collection of Pucci, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and Thierry Mugler.

About 60 years' worth of May's closets are being put up for auction today, more than two years after the fashion maven died in Seattle at age 85 in September 2003. It had taken her estate that long to assemble the collection from homes she kept in Seattle and Los Angeles.

"This is a fabulous collection," said Cheryl Maddux, owner of Pike Place Antiques at Seattle's Pike Place Market, who arrived at an auction preview early Friday to scope out her favorite items.

"I remember Gladys from when I worked at Deluxe Junk [a store in Fremont], and she was always dressed to the nines."

As one of six girls in an Oklahoma family, May designed clothes for her paper dolls, then her grandmother made the full-size versions for her, said her son, Stephen May.

May married young and moved West in the 1930s. During her marriage, and after her divorce in the 1960s, she toured the globe with her son in tow.

May befriended artist Andy Warhol and fashion designer Mugler, who was so fond of her that he put her in his shows. The peach cashmere sweater — with silver leather embroidery and matching peach cashmere stirrup pants — that she modeled for Mugler will be up for bid today, her son said.

"Through our lives with the Warhol crowd, she met every celebrity, every famous person you could imagine," said Stephen May, 57, who lives in Seattle. "Everyone assumed she was an actress or model."

The fashion auction was the idea of auctioneer Mike Odell and Alan Gorsuch, who owns Sanford & Son Antiques & Auctions in Tacoma.

More than 4,000 items will be up for bid. And that includes a short, red, strapless dress, with sequins and a feather boa, designed by Bob Mackie for Cher. And a red, strapless dress that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis wore to an opening of The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Dresses run from sizes 3 to 12 and shoes are generally sizes 6 and 7.

ps- here is a little poem/limerick from a tea guest that could not find the salon!

"AN ANTEBELLUM TEA TALE"

by your ROVING reporter, gloriana casey
Sept. 12, 2010

A tea party, it seemed so fun,
as unemployed I am.
To break the resume rejects,
for scones, I had a yen!

But if you thought job hunt was strange,
just take a listen here.
I had me such a terrible walk
so lost, and yet so near!

2;45 to 4:15
I walked like Marley's ghost,
directions given, but
oh my, directions burnt like toast.

For N. Orange seventeen -three-eight
on no street seemed to me.
The kisok man on corner there,
thought parking lot might be!

Then cross the street to other "Orange"
but once again no luck.
No cell phone I--- to call for help.
my brain it said,"Oh YUCK!"

Then next I went to Roosevelt,
the desk clerk , kind to me.
He dialed your number on the spot,
but still no help to be!

A phone voice said , '"Find Starlight tours."
so back the street I crossed.
Back to the first old kiosk man,
I certainly was lost.

Said this man, 'Walk to the red bus
and therein you should ask.
The second man said.'I don't know."
My luck was fading fast!

So back the stairs I wandered up,
curled feet like birdie's perch.
The 4th floor, Cobra Water named,
A cell phone, borrowed search!

Then RICK, at last was on the phone,
"Turn left at Kodak place.
This time---I thought my path was sure,
but---,more egg on my face!

I thought perhaps to stand by Shreck,
and in position stay.
But Shreck was not a statue, nope!
another fail today!

To Nordstroms next ,I asked within,
but still no answer found.
My cell phone search was fading fast,
I moved to higher ground.

In Renaissance Hotel, I found,
a pay phone! Luck to be!
This was to be my last attempt,
my feet were killing me.

To RICK again, I spoke now tired,
the news he gave to me,
was Michael would now search me out,
I stayed put, yes siree!

From high above the rail I scanned,
my heart then leapt in praise!
For there was Michael down below.
His name, with voice I raised!

So here at least, with sweat and luck,
I had the tea and scones,
plus sandwiches of many kinds,
like salmon with no bones!

Of course, so tired--- like dog I ate,
and stuffed it all away!
Next time, I'll know just where you are,
from LOST, I'll stay away!

DO NOT LOOK FOR 1738 ANY WHERE ON N. ORANGE. ( there isn't one!)
THERE IS A N. ORANGE INSIDE THE MALL
PARK UNDERGROUND IN THE RENAISSANCE HOTEL PARKING ENTRANCE ( in back of the Chinese Theatre and the the Kodak Theatre and the mall complex.)
Enter the mall from the underground parking.
Walk through the mall until you reach Hollywood. Blvd. ( yeah, you've gone too far!)

Stay inside the mall but turn around and go back past the Kodak Theatre. ( which will be on your left.)
Go back up the marble stairs and turn left.
Walk in that left direction until you see a wooden street sign with 4 different street markers.
One says "N.ORANGE. Follow that arrow.>>>>>>>>>>
Keep going, and look for the red and white WINE Cellar sign. but go PAST this sign
if you think you're going to an exit, keep going and look to the right with the BLACK bricks! ( look for a little doggie sculpture too, it's right outside the restaurant!)
Turn left and : EAT DRINK AND BE MERRY!
