here's a little plug for LITTLE JOE magazine. the first queer zine dedicated to queers and cinema, mostly.
Little Joe is a new biannual publication looking at film from a different perspective. It is a direct move away from the traditional method of reviewing all current and future releases towards a more selective and eclectic focus on films that inspire alternative discourse.

PROP 8 HAS BEEN RULED UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
this may possibly be one of the happiest days, and a landmark in civil rights for all!!!
Judge Vaughn Walker Hands Victory to Proposition 8 Opponents
8/4/10 at 4:16 PM
This afternoon U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker ruled in the case brought before him by lawyers Ted Olson and David Boies, which argued that the Proposition 8 ballot initiative denying marriage rights to same-sex couples in California was unconstitutional. In a decision just handed down to lawyers for both sides, Walker ruled that Proposition 8 is "unconstitutional under both the due process and equal protection clauses." The court, therefore, "orders entry of judgment permanently enjoining its enforcement." We're staying tuned for more updates and details on the 136-page decision, but these two sentences from the conclusion are critical:
Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same sex couples.
That's what history sounds like. Of course, before the ruling was released, lawyers for the opposing side filed a motion to stay his ruling pending an appeal to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

TEA TIME IN HOLLYWOOD
my absolute favorite american tea room of all time has finally made it to hollywood!
and it's only 2 blocks west of antebellum gallery!
CHADO HITS HOLLYWOOD with an impressive opening tea salon that was both special and genteel.
featuring tea tasting hosted by tea master james norwood pratt & guest poetry readings, chado owners Reena & Devan Shah, along with partner Tek were the best tea hostess & hosts respectively.
This was a proper Chinese "tea tasting", all guests were given a scent cup(Taiwan invention) and tasting cup and carrying bag. This simple tea ware is a must for all tea lovers. The hot tea is served by the “scent cup” which is taller and narrower and then poured into the “teacup” which is short and wider, first the aroma from the scent cup is appreciated then the tea is savored from the drinking cup.
